A friend of mine told me about a staffing agency in Colorado called Legal Solutions, Inc. The owner of the agency is a pathological liar and she cheats her employees out of their wages for her own financial gain. What a horrible person!

Very interesting! That agency has contacted me multiple times in response to my online resumes. Every time I update my resume online I hear from that agency.

Last summer, in a weak moment, I answered a Craigslist ad for a paralegal job in my specialty. The ad read like a direct-hire employer. Guess what? Legal Solutions had placed that ad. I received its usual standard e-mail garbage about what an interesting resume I have, etc., ad nauseum. I responded that I don't deal with agencies. I determined who their client was - it wasn't hard - and told her I wasn't interested in that firm.

The agency kept bothering me. I did tell her their client was also advertising directly for the position. I also told her how unprofessionally it treated me. Birds of a feather.

Upon reflection, I'd be surprised if that firm was a Legal Solutions client. Another reason why I don't deal with agencies. Thanx for the helpful info!

If you are looking for work in Colorado I would suggest www.fusionstaffing.net they are great. My sister found her new job using them and I have spoken with them a few times. They always shoot me an email when something comes up that might be of interest to me. I have a temp job right now that they helped in find.

I have been doing temporary legal secretary/assistant work for Legal Solutions on and off for over 20 years in between jobs. I have found Legal Solutions to be professional, ethical and solid. I have worked with a number of their counselors over the years and had problems with only one, a lady named Randie who is no longer there. Legal Solutions got me my last two positions; one lasted five years and the last one only lasted a year because the law firm closed. I highly recommend them and am currently on a temp assignment through them. I'm hoping they will find me another full-time position.

Add accountemps as another agency that is not good to work with. Specifically, Drew or Kristin!

I am SO GLAD I ran across this post out of nowhere in my search for legitimate legal secretary and paralegal positions! I had a very bad feeling about this company, red flags galore. I, too, received the flattering email that my skills and experience were very great and that they would have a lot of positions I may be well-suited for. Yet, I could find no evidence of them having or operating a website. The email address did not correspond with a legitimate website. Furthermore, the signature block of the recruiter also was advertising some sort of direct sales she was trying to do. When I asked her twice how long I could expect our meeting to take, I received no response whatsoever. Thank you for saving me lots of time, as the appointment was scheduled for tomorrow right smack in the middle of my workday.

That's interesting that you've been working for them off and on for 20 years since they only registered with the Secretary of State to do business as Legal Solutions, Inc. in 2003. How is that? Do they have an actual website? I think companies that have to post what I consider "shadow" or mimic ads of legitimate job opportunities obviously make no bones that they are willing to cut corners on ethics when it suits them.

Yeah, I've received the same or similar e-mails from them in response to my online resumes. I also found similar information with the Secretary of State. I've never found a website for them, but that, in and of itself, doesn't necessarily mean anything.

Good luck with your job search. You will find this is a dry legal market. Agencies are advertising the bulk of the jobs, if they, in fact, are legitimate jobs at all.

I completely agree about this place. I went in for a meeting, was told by the owner that I simply was in the wrong career (I had at the time 5 years of paralegal experience and an associates degree) and she told me that I was "unemployable in the legal community." I found a job on my own and then six months later I got a random email from her stating "that she found my name during a database search and wanted to know if I was interested in employment opporunities." You are kidding me, right?? I thought I wasn't employable??

She was full of malarkey. You are certainly employable and for good money.

Thanks for your post.
