I was born and raised in Denver. The prime location in Denver proper would be the Washington Park area. If you have the money you can live there. Housing there is very pricey but there are also areas just west of Wash Park that are not as nice looking and appear rather seedy. Next to the Wash Park is an upper class communtiy where housing can start at half a million to $5 million. Denver is an odd duck in that good neighborhoods and bad neighborhoods are in pockets. Same with the suburbs which go from attractive to gang infested. They are often next to each other. Stay away from 5 points, high crime. Same with most of East and North side of Denver. The farther you go away from Denver proper the better the housing becomes whether it's north, south, east, or west. But you will pay for it. Especially if you want to live in view of the mountains. |

Washington Park is not the only nice area. Hilltop is an excellent area, and expensive. Lowry, nearby, has nice housing. Southeast Denver is fine. I'd stay away from the West Side past the Colfax Viaduct to Sheridan Boulevard. |

Agree totally. The Lowry area is still kind of new but classically, just north across 11th ave. is certainly a place to avoid, except maybe a few of the newer condos built there a few years ago. Another example of a nice neighborhood next to a not so good one. I don't know but I'm sure it's probably like that wherever you go in the country. |

Yeah. North of Colfax to Stapleton. I probably would avoid Park Hill, which is too bad. Some really nice homes in that area, but iron bars and grates protect the windows and doors of many of those homes. They may as well be fortresses. |

One more point. Arapahoe County communities of Denver, such as Centennial, Greenwood Village, etc. are very nice. But the property taxes will likely cost ya. |

Fillmore Street is on the east side. I've never heard of Decatur Place. Decatur Street is on the west side. There is a Decatur Place Apartments. It's not in what I'd call a great area. Depending on the section of town, some areas along Fillmore Street are fine. I can be more specific if you can provide the hundred block of Fillmore or South Fillmore in which you're interested. |
