I'm a filmmaker. I've worked in Hollywood as a producer, director and video editor. My own company, Fortuneteller Films, has produced; Industrial, training, promotional and educational content. I've shot several, 'behind the scenes", documentary segments for special feature content on Sci-Fi Channel DVD movies. I've also produced several projects for the Lutheran Church, LCMS and the ELCA. The housing market is crazy in Los Angeles and out of our reach, for now. I feel Fort Wayne is a great place to raise our two boys, and settle down into our own home. To do that, I need to work for a large company or organization that uses vido as a communication tool. Hope anyone out there can help. I'd be happy to shoot a wedding video for anyone who can help me. Thanks,
|

Hi Tom, I moved back to Ft. Wayne after 27 years working out west in the film and video industry and let me tell you there is very little video work here unless you want to shoot weddings and even that industry is very, very seasonal. We are close enough to Indianapolis and Chicago that local companies and corporations that do have the money to spend on production do so with Chicago and Indy companies. I've tried to network with local filmmakers, but there just isn't enough happening, try as I might. Ft. Wayne is a great place to raise a family but jobs are very limited if you are in a creative field. Used to be Ft. Wayne was a big factory town, but that industry is almost gone. Nothing has come in to fill the void. |

I am a life long resident of Fort Wayne,IN as a youg mother and wife I have found that the reason that the cost of living hear is so low is because there are limited jobs here. We have a high number of poor over qulifiyed famlies living here. We may have a nice city to live in but what is the use of rasing a family here if there is no resorses to allow them to grow and be a law abiding citizens.Unless you have money already the chances of you ending up of welfair are high. |

Host said: What are the best local job boards, job clubs, recruiters and temp agencies available in Fort Wayne? I have been searching on the internet for local job listings. I thought this would be an informative and easier way to find a job versus actually going around town in my car and physically putting in applications. WRONG!!!! The web sites I have been on tell you absolutely NOTHING useful! They all ask for your personal info, (e.g. name, address, phone number, e-mail address and sometimes credit card number) you put all that in, hoping to get "job information" and all you get is a bunch of run around! I am a beginner when it comes to the internet. Am I doing something wrong? Can someone offer helpful tips on searching the internet for jobs? I sure would appreciate some advice! |

Hello I grew up in the New Haven area. When I turned 16 I couldn't find an entry level job to save my life. Even during summer break back in H.S. I moved a year later with my family to Lexington, KY, and found a job within the first month of residing there. I worked as a auto mechanic apprentice. I held it until I got tired of not being able to rise up in pay even with a few certifications under my belt. After that whole ordeal I went back to college...at Bluegrass Com. College just to get my feet wet...not a pleasant experience. I only lasted one semester. So I decided maybe it was time to go back home to the fort. IPFW was a lot cheaper than UK anyway and Ivy Tech is a better starting college hands down. Alas I am back where I started now Im 21 yrs old with the love for mechanics, and I still I can't even get hired to flip burgers at the local McDonalds, or doing hard manual labor, or other degrading work available( I am very desperate now). If anyone has any suggestions or knows somebody please let me know. Contact Email : benjamin.r.owens@gmail.com |

video / film in FOrt Wayne in Fort Wayne, Indiana 34 months ago |
Geoff, Video / film for independent producers in the Fort is almost non-existant. I get most of my business out of Detroit / Portland, OR and Charleston. Everyone in the Fort wants you to have your pants around your ankles . . . the market is over saturated with independent guys who are "OK". though I live here, I get my work from out of town. The bottom line is that there is no value placed here on talent because guys are so hungry they'll drop their pants to pay next weeks bills . . . Mike Phillips
