Where did you come from? How did you move here? What would you do different now?

I grew up in brownsburg Indiana, graduated and moved to Indianapolis Indiana where I spent the majority of my adulthood and motherhood. In 2004 moved to Kokomo Indiana and from there came here in sept 2006 as a relocated GM family.
we had 30 days notice to move.
we didn't want to buy a house nor did we want to rent an apartment.
if I had it to do over I would have contacted a lot of realators from day one. it was difficult to find a good location in such a short period of time. we got very lucky, but i must tell you we got a lot of duds.
I learned that U HAUL does very bad business, as we got stuck with a broke down truck that they refused to exchange until after it went through some sort of service agent @#$%, when you are on a time crunch the last thing you need is to be stressed out over the rental that won't run. we after much distress returned it and rented a BUDGET truck, which was awesome!
I would add that if you are planning a move to ft wayne, you might want to ask if the area you want to live in floods, because there is a lot of that going on.
Ft Wayne is a beautiful city, it is well maintained compared to many cities. It certainly offers a lot of greenery! It's windy, great sunrise and sunsets, the people here are a pleasure to experience.
that is my notes

I left home in the '70s for military duty, ended up in the West and stayed away for forty years. I came back for a funeral a year ago and decided to buy a home because I sensed something wasn't right with the economy. Today I live in FW my hometown and am happy that it IS possible to successfully go back home!

The last reply was correct. There are lots of trees (wooded areas), wildlife (deer, birds, racoon-types and foxes, coon and fish to name just a few) roam the area freely. AND lakes, there are thousands of lakes in FW all stocked, open for recreation and act as foreground for beautiful sunsets and sun rises.

You won't be sorry you came except make sure you have a job! We like to hire locals unless you have exceptional skills that can't be found local.
