Well, BART starts here in Fremont and you can take it pretty much anywhere in the Bay Area. The bus system is okay and you can also catch Amtrak trains from the middle of Fremont, on Fremont Blvd. Other than that there are several freeways 880, 680, 84 and you can take the Dumbarton Bridge to cross over to the other side of the bay.
