Tons of Recreation - Many state parks and trails- Paynes Prairie for boating and fishing and trails. North entrance to view huge gators on trail which leads to a platform to view bison and wild horses. If you are a UF student , you have access to Lake Wahlburg which offers swimming, canoeing, kayak, and paddle boats. Great for picnicing. We are 30-45 minutes away from 4 different natural springs which offer swimming, kayaking,canoeing, snorkeling and diving. go to Itchetucknee river to tube down the river "lazy river style". Go to the natural history Museum which is free and is awesome. Harn Museum is also free. Watermelon season is now find 2-3$ watermelons being sold on the side of the road. Yummy. Blueberries come next month with many fields to pick from some are free. Saturday markets in Haile village for fresh inexpensive locally grown produce. Friday night downtown music concerts . Campus always has movies in the park and special events going on. Devils Millhopper park is a nature park with a trail which leads to the bottom of a sinkhole. See the bats come out at dusk every day at the university. 60 thousand bats live in the habitat and swarm out each night. New planetarium at Sante Fe Community College weekend shows. Sante fe community college during the week has a teaching zoo to visit. Go on a moonlight canoe trip on the sante fe river ending with smores and a bonfire. Drive one hour west to Cedar Key an old fishing town, very unique and artsy. Lots of antique shops in Micanopy 30 miles South of G-ville. Hippodrome State Theater in Gville offers great shows in the oldest theater in florida.
