Career change Real Estate?

I am a purchasing agent for the pharmacy of a hospital and I feel trapped. I originally wanted to become a pharmacist but, working as a pharmacy tech for 3 years turned me away from the profession. I was introduced to real estate investing and have been consumed by it. By the end of this year I should have my first investment property. My interest in real estate investing has made me consider a career in real estate preferably commercial properties.

With the current state the real estate market is in as well as the state of overall employment is it a good idea to pursue a career change in general?
