Richard,

IF you are willing to learn new things,
why not go to school and make a decision to have a career instead of just having a job. I settled for just having a "job" at your age and wished I'd went to school. Now I am 34 years old three kids no job. SCHOOL IS NOT THE ANSWER FOR EVERYONE BUT IT WILL HELP YOU GET SOMEWHERE IN LIFE

I do not wish to sound xenophobic, but right now in America we have American born and raised citizens who cannot find jobs. If you read through the pages of this website, it is a testimony to this. Our economy has gotten so bad that even lawyers, others with college degrees, and people with years and decades in the workforce are unable to find jobs or jobs that pay a living wage.

I have seen on US websites, American citizens trying their hand at creating their own businesses like virtual assisting and offering their admin services to try and make some money to stay afloat until this economy comes back to life and then you have citizens from, in particular India, coming on this website offering their services for only $2/hour. Isn't it enough that most of our US IT jobs have been shipped from American to India? Enough is enough already. Our US companies do not need to be hiring non-citizens right now while millions of American citizens go without jobs.

The worst decision ever made in recent times in the US was to outsource US jobs because those millions of jobs that have been lost, whether manufacturing or IT, were jobs that paid middle class wages and benefits. Now US companies no longer have to even leave American shores for cheap labor because you now have students and others who are here on work visas and some who are here illegally working US jobs right here on US soil.

The US cannot survive off of low wage service jobs!

It is very tough out there and you don't need to look very far to find someone worse off then you are. Education or no education it is a very tough market. I agree seek some free mental health treatment if you are as bad as you say. Try to find a job search group to join- don't isolate and go out and take a walk.

Maybe you and others can find some new idea in this article; "How to Get a job in a BAD economy", URL : bizcovering.com/employment/how-to-get-a-job-in-a-bad-economy/

Sincerely wish you the best, but your not alone- there are plenty of people out there pretty desparate- maybe try to help one of them out- it will give you new enthusiasm. Many people report a volunteer job found them a new job. the best wishes.

My husband and I were just layed off a month ago working for the same company. We have put out resumes everyday and no response. He has 18+ years of landscaping/irrigation experience, not to mention as Texas Irrigator License and no one is hiring with his skills & education. I have 5+ years of office management/administrative experience and I cannot even get an $8/hr receptionist job with out a bachelors degree.

It is tough on everyone, especially those without certifications or degrees. It is employer's market now to be picky and pay low wages with high requirements! No one is hiring because businesses do not have a tax break anymore. The "big man" will not hire or pay decent wage if he has to pay high taxes and not have liquid cash flow to hire employees and write off as an expense at the end of the year.

This is why Obama should not be president!! How can I see a tax break if I dont even have a paycheck to see my taxes!!

No need to blame Obama for what Bush caused. But yeah, being honest, hardworking and smart isn't enough. Having the ethics of a spider helps.

Bush did not impose a tax on companies earning over 250k...Obama did. Bush did not try to force employers to provide healthcare...Obama is. Watch the news.
