Help please. I am a single mother of two physically disabled adult chilren. I do have a BS degree in Elementary Education but have not had a full-time teaching job since the 70's.
Bottom line I have no real "work history". I need a job NOW (I am not restricted to only accepting a 'teaching job')..or we will loose our home.
From an employers point of view I really have nothing exceptional to offer.
What do I do? Where do I begin to search for employment?
I have already begun to unclutter our home, which is a full-time job in itself,so that when the day comes that we can no longer live here it will be somewhat easier to leave. Given the fact I am the ONLY person in this home with any amount of physical strength the job is very difficult and consumes endless hours.
....I feel like a little child who is scared of the dark. I can't see what is out there and don't know how to turn on the light.
At 61 years approaching a soon to be 62 years I am lost in the forest of the unemployed.
....I don't have the money to have someone write a resume for me. I can't even imagine 'what' the content would be if I could afford it.
....Help me please sort out the do's and don't's of job searching at a time when there are so many people with great qualifications also out there in need of employment.

Savannah here again...about my original post...The ideal job would be a Work at Home job....full-time. Are there any of those WAH jobs that are real jobs? It seems all I read is how they are Scams...not real employment. Does anyone have even a small clue about for real WAH jobs?

Hi... Savannah, dont despiar! I am sure that you have many great abliities after looking after two disabled people. There are a great many people like yourself that need help in their homes... my own mother takes care of my sister after an accident left her in a chair unable to care for herself. While in the hospital, mom looked for respite workers or help to care for her. I live in alberta canada, mom and my sister live in ontario canada. I have spoken with a great many people that have found themselves in such a situation, looking for somone that has your skills and experiance. good luck, keep yer chin up and remember...you made it this far, it'll only get better. God Bless. Fred Eagles

"Thanks" for your support....and by the way....I lived in Michigan...northern Michigan...very northern Michigan...and actually went to the dentist in Canada.....and...also lived in Alaska...and drove down to the lower 48 ...Canada is beautiful...and I would go there and stay forever...if I could....my daughter actually is friends with someone who plays for one of the Canada Football teams...wish I knew which one....I don't....I do know her friend is HUGE...a really big guy....sure could use his help around my house...Thanks again...I know I have to find something to make money...soon...or we won't be here much longer....as for it only getting better....I don't have that much trust in 'what will be'....that is how I ended up in this mess...trusting in the wrong people and the wrong things and not putting my trust in good ole money...and that is why I don't have any now.....ah, to go back and know 'then' what I know all too well 'now'.

The IT jobs these days seem to be reserved only for Indians (younger ones). In most cases the technical screening will be done by an Indian who will ask you very detailed technical questions. They want to know what you know rather than what you can get done and your career history has no meaning. So, for non Indians and Indians over the age of 40, forget about being in IT in USA
