What are the opportunities for recreation, vacation, and just plain fun around Kansas City?

KC is just not the small town as it is percived in popular culture.

There are hundreds of beautiful parks and fountains, Art-Deco, Modern and Post-modern architecture, cultural activities, sports, shopping districts (the Country Club Plaza is just one, there are many, the Plaza is just the best known).

For getaways, the lake areas in the Ozarks are best for outdoor activities. Don't forget Branson (4 hours away by car via Springfield).

Anybody remember the old musical "Oklahoma"?
Everything IS upto date in Kansas City.
