I know they have a really good EMT program and did have a really good Paramedic program (which they got rid of due to underenrollment) but I do not know about the Medical Assistant stuff. I still use this college for my EMT re-certs and CPR re-certs. Dan Lucky is the owner of the college and he's a good guy to deal with. |

kdkd in Patterson, California said: I wonder if you know anyone who attend this college for medical assistant program. I actually attended this college. I completed the Medical Assistant course. It was excellent! I graduated in 12/2004. I'm sure they have changed a bit since then but I would recommend this college to anyone interested. At the time, which may have changed by now, the only complaint I have is I wish the course included learning a bit more about the medications themselves. I felt very weak in this area when I first started and went out to find a job. Being a medical assistant definatly includes the knowledge of knowing about medications, the different types and what they actually work for(example-Lipitor for Cholesterol, Atenolol for BP, ect). I actually worked w/another MA which completed the same course from another school which lasted 9 months and cost A LOT more money. It's not worth it to go to a longer course or a college with a more well known name unless you plan on leaving the state of CA. Attending Abram college your certificate is only good in this state with this college. With the other college you learn a bit more because they teach you to look under microscopes and such but that's what they need to teach you for other states, your not actually allowed to do this in CA as an MA,so it's worthless to go there unless you are planning on leaving CA as previously mentioned.Actually,I received my certificate at the end of the course when I completed the final test in class as for the other MA I worked w/did not. Once she finnished her course with the other college she was suppose to set up an appt to take the exam to receive her cert. which she never did. That was five years ago and she still is not certified. she is only a MA. This limits her to be able to apply anywhere. Most larger facilities such as hospitals require a certificate vs a small private practice may not require a cert.Hope it helps. |

I went to Abrams College. Graduated from their Pharmacy tech class in 2008.Sorry, can't tell you much about medical transcription class, but Pharmacy Tech program was really good. I learned a lot and class was MUCH cheaper than others I looked into before coming to abrams. Yes, that's because they are a state school, but I am not planning to moving out of state. Class was just i think about 14 weeks or so, schedule was great for me. I received my Certificate couple days after finishing the program. I liked the school and definately recommend it other people. |

I went to the EMT program at this school. BOB is a great teacher, he takes plenty of interest in his students and wants them to succeed. I hope that any of you future students at Abrams get to learn from him. As for the founder of the school (LUCKY) he is... well lets just say i haven't met a student who liked him yet. A warning to all of you interested in attending Abrams college, Lucky will freeze/sweat you out of class. He refuses to allow the heat/air to be on because it costs to much. So whatever you do do not sit in the back of the class. The fans are really loud. You wont be able to hear the lecture. He shows up unexpectidly and waists about two hours of your time telling you of all his life achievements. That pisses me off the most because your spending alot of money to learn and he waists it. I was at Abrams for five weeks, and he came to waist the class's time more then once... about six times to be exact. My sister took the phlebotomy class, before the female teacher took over. She loved it. |

Eddy, First of all, you are a social service student with absolutley no medical training. As I told you then, and I will tell you again, when a patient is in a non-emergent situation, as with this case, you need to goto the attending provider who was there at the time--NOT someone not involved with the case. I informed you of this numerous times as did the clinic owner. Your failure to understand this point, your lack of medical knowledge and your incredibly immature and unprofessional behavior coupled with clear episodes of out of control conduct witnessed by a dozen or so employees sets an atmosphere that is dangerous to patients. This is why I resigned as I could not work at a place where my patients were jeopardized over the outrageous and inappropriate behavior of a social studies student. Had the clinic owner notified the institution regarding your conduct, you would have been terminated immediately. Perhaps as you get older, or perhaps if you obtain medical education you will understand that patients come first and ego comes second. |

work environment as well as posed a dangerous atmosphere in which to care for patients. As an individual with zero medical responsibility, you are clearly unable to understand how your actions caused such. You obviously consider such outrageous behavior consistent with championing patients interest and advocating patients when in actuality, your actions are not only non conducive to forwarding patients interests, but harmful to patients due to the hostile environment you create. What is striking and very telling is your incapacity for moving on with your life. The dangerous situation you created occurred a year ago and you still are unable to move on. You come to this board and attempt to malign the reputation of an individual who has been in the medical field longer than you have been alive. Eddy, you obviously have some deep seeded issues, which is clear in your rants of late, that are driving your behavior. I pray you get some help and one day you can move on with your life. |

Does any body know if the EMT program at Abrams school is state accredit certified program ,and if after compleation of the course if you receive your National Registery Certification. From the comments I have read, it does not sound like the best school to attend. |
