I relocated to Montgomery, Alabama a year ago and learned "you must go in person" to determine the apartments and communities for yourself. I learned websites and apartment guides provide an overview size, amenities. Example square feet of liveable space and set up differ significantly from place to place. Check out apartmentguide.com contact the apartment complex of interest for an appointment but do your homework; go a day or two in advance, on a weekend or at night. That is the way to really see a community, shops in area, people hanging out around, pool area etc. One place we picked had laundry thrown on the balcony to dry clothes and loud music playing with people hanging in the parking lot, another was closed with yellow tape on the weekend. During the day all was quiet and nice on our appointment. We collected our application fee and turned it down. Montgomery Newspapers show the crime in each area with police reports describing the crime in each district. As for the Good schools try private schools the public schools magnet programs are pretty good. Montgomery is the city and with it comes the city problems in public schools, issues with behavior, shortage of teachers, attitudes of kids, teachers and staff. Remember your kids will be there alone 8hrs a day x 180 days per school year that is enough exposure to cultivate attitudes and behavior so make sure its positive.

Montgomery, Alabama is a great place to live, work and educate your kids so Good Luck!!!
