I'm going to be interviewing for a Senior Engineering role in Manhattan next week and want to do some homework on compensation in case the conversation comes up.
I'm applying for a Senior Engineering job at a startup that involves international travel and I will be the only hardware engineering employee in the company. While I am applying for a hardware position, there aren't really hardware engineers in NYC, only software, but let's assume the wages to be comparable.
I see salaries for a Senior Software Engineer in New York generally list around 100k to 130k.
I have an engineering degree, 7 years of experience and an MBA.
The company has about 70 employees, is about 3 years old and has raised about $100M in equity to date.
Should I be expecting an offer in the 100k to 130k range? Substantially less since it's a startup? Or higher since I have an MBA and would be the first hardware engineer?
