Your question is a bit ambiguous. The answer is relative. For instance, $20/hr is very good if you are a machinist. It's not so good if you are a structural engineer. It's a good wage if you are single. It's not so good if you have a family of four to support. When I worked in the UK as a mechanical designer 5 years ago, I considered 38,000 pounds a good salary. It was comparable to the $50,000 I had been making here. But the exchange rate has changed considerably since then. The short answer is that there are plenty of people here who would love to be making $20/hr. Most make less. For a professional white collar position, it's about average ... in my humble opinion. |

Its an ok wage. Do you know how hot it gets in Phoenix? Be prepared for 111 degrees and hotter. Live cose to your work. The freeways are unbelieveably congested during morning and dusk rush hours. Get a car with dam good a/c and stay indoors as often as you can. Dont screw up and go to jail-<Edited by Host: Name Removed> will getcha! |

What is your profession? Other specifics, how long have you been at it, etc. What is your profession? Other specifics, how long have you been at it, etc. Pay for performance is relevant in a reasonable company.

No matter what your profession is, I think $20 per hour is average for a standard white collar worker in the US economy as it is now. You are lucky to have a job offer in Arizona. I recently attended a job fair in Phoenix with over 16,000 people looking for jobs. My advice: If your jobs in the UK is stable, rethink moving to AZ. My job of 12 years in AZ. recently ended due to the poor economy here, our entire office was closed and we were non-profit! Best of luck to you in your journey! |

(I would love to work in another state!) What job fair in AZ was that where over 16000 ( you mean 1600) people looking for jobs.

$20 PER HOUR IS NOT BAD, BUT AGAIN IT DEPENDS ON WHAT THE JOB IS. I WOULD REALLY WANT TO LIVE AND WORK IN THE U.S. IF I WAS DOING OK OR BETTER IN GB.
