Dianna,
I am moving to Jacksonville myself from South Jersey and I've been doing a lot of "Florida Research"! I can't speak to Port St. Lucie specifically, but there's a lot of general Florida DMV info on these sites:
www.stateofflorida.com
I've also gotten a lot of area-specific info from these forums:
www.city-data.com/forum/florida/50708-moving-port-st-lucie-long-island.html
I've sent you to a thread specifically on Port St. Lucie, but there's a huge amount of info from City-Data.com. NB - there are a lot of cranky people who post negative opinions, so you have to weed through for the gems.
