We will be moving to Reno in August. My daughter will start kindergarten. I am looking to get a full time job during school hours Monday thru Friday. I am a single mom, and I do not live on government money. I am from Louisiana, and I am very reliable. I was thinking receptionist at a hotel, or even in a casino. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you. |

Reno has a huge unemployment rate and unless you have degree in a field that is hiring which most of them aren't, i would stay there or opt for another state that is booming. Most full time jobs will extend past school hours and of the ones you've listed above, you would have to start at swing or graveyard shirt. Not being cruel, just want to prepare you |

Living quite close to Reno, and being closely involved with enemployed people, I can say that SorrySteph is correct - to a point. Yes, Nevada has the highest unemployment rate, but in the major tourist areas (Reno, Vegas, Tahoe), there's jobs aplenty. Most don't require a degree, either, unless you're looking at management jobs.
