San Antonio is fine

Best places to live? I'd say Med Center, off 151 area and Alamo Heights. There are other nice areas but
I mean, rent is so damn cheap here. You can really stretch the dollar.

San Antonio is great b/c the cost of living is low. There are jobs available. Unemployment rates and construction are doing well. They're really building down here.
Texas cities are doing great in the recession. It was the last state to enter the recession if I'm not mistaken.
You will LOVE Mexican food.

My main issue with San Antonio?
The nightlife is beyond dead. If you have a family you'll love it.
But this is not a city for singles. This city is more like a 'town'...which can be a good thing. but for me, it's a negative.
I like bustling fast-paced cities.
I grew up here then left to join the AF. Then...came back to take care of my aunt...but I'm making plans to relocate back to Florida in Jan 2011.
Their housing market is in the neg but I'll get an apt and ride it out until it stabilizes. Employment isn't in the negative...and there are plenty of things to do there.
When you run out of things to do -- you can always count on the beach.
