Eh, I am on the same boat. It seems like everyone is looking for a job now a days. If I were you I would make an account and join this site. www.emtlife.com/search.php?searchid=800611 it's just people who are like you, looking for a job as an EMT. It has pretty good information, like who are the good companies to work for(R/M, Pacfic), who shouldn't you work for (balboa, ER ambulance, from all the post on the site, and friends), when they are hiring, the things they ask during the interview. It's good stuff, really. I am sure you will get most of your answers from reading the post, if not post a question and people will answer it. Plus it has some good EMS humor, jokes, and just good stuff. I am on the same boat as you, looking for a job, so far I threw out 4 applications, none called me back. some people have thrown out like 6,7 and none called back. It's getting hired is all about the timing. And well, for a good company it will always be hard. That if it is a good company. So, since it doesn't seem like I am going to get hired any time soon. I am going to look for EMT experience in the vol. Firefighter side. It's is good experience since you use your EMT skills, but sadly isn't really picking up people ethier, not currently, maybe soon tho, well, I don't really know to be honest. A volunteer fire department that currenting are accepting applications is Campo Fire. If you don't like the fire service. Then Ummm . . . Volunteering in a hospital is also an option, I volunteer in the ER, and it's pretty awesome. You see gun shots, combative individuals, stuff of an ER. It's not a job, but it's one more thing to put down on your app. But yeah, sorry for this being too long, I like to ramble on as you can tell. Oh yeah, one more thing, the EMS medical community is small, you start to know everyone, make good impressions. Good luck on finding a job. And CONGRATS on passing NREMT.

oh yeah, and to drive an ambulance you need medical examiner cards, found at DMV

I am sorry for saying balboa and ER ambulance are bad. What I ment to say was that they are not as strong as the other companies out there. They do not have as much contracts compared to R/M or AMR. So yeah. Hope I didn't offend anyone.

I totally agree with you. dont work for ER ambulance. the owner is a cheat. and balboa is rather unsafe.
