Moving to Silver Spring - how did you get here?

Where did you come from? How did you move here? What would you do different now?

I recently moved to Downtown Silver Spring from Los Angeles, CA. I drove cross-country to Florida, dropped off most of my belongings with family, then flew north. I'm still in the transition period and need to move more of my things here, but I'm living here full-time now.

I had a false understanding of DC transit. For some reason I thought that it would be similar to New York, and that I would not need my vehicle. That is not true with this tri-state area. I can get to and from work fine, but most other things are not conveniently close (i.e. IKEA).

I miss LA, the weather, people, scenary (mountains and beaches), however, I'm ready for this change of pace. I work in DC, so on some level I get a dose of city-life. I always said I would end up in Silver Spring, ever since my childhood visit. SO here I am, a Montgomery County resident.
