What are the seasons like in Spokane? How do Spokane dwellers cope? |

Weather in Spokane is borderline perfect usually. In the winter we get snow but it isn't usually too cold. Snow usually melts within a couple of days, this winter being an exception. Roads are rarely icy, but again this winter is an exception. The fall and spring are perfectly balanced. The fall gets a little chilly and spring usually in between cold and warm before it finally decides to heat up in March or April. Summer is usually pretty dry, give or take a few good storms every now and then. You usually have to water your own grass because if you don't it gets yellow and crunchy in teh summer, but that isn't hard to do. The heat in the summer is a dry heat which means low humidity but when it is hot it feels hot. It usually stays in the mid 80s, but in the middle of summer it can stay in the 90s for a prolonged period of time. After a while you don't really mind it because there are nice lakes, beaches, pools, and rivers nearby which you can cool off in. Nights in the summer cool down but not usually too bad so camping is easier than other places. All in all, the weather in Spokane is the happy medium of most other areas in the country. |

Yeah, I would agree that the weather in Spokane is really pretty good. Winter is bad for me because I don't like the snow, and it can be cold for long periods of time. I think it was a couple of years ago that the entire month of December was below freezing, all day, every day. I didn't enjoy that. The snow isn't too bad. There are a few days each year where the roads are really bad. The snow this last winter was some of the deepest I have ever seen it. The spring and summer are great. Doesn't get any better. |

Winter sucks in the Spokane area, and it's about 5 months long (Nov-Mar). Spring, Summer, and Fall are very nice. If you don't like COLD, don't come. It can be below freezing for a month, and below 40 degrees for months. We can have snow on the ground for 3-4 months straight. We cope by retiring and moving South for the winters. I was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, but I've spent too much time in the South and the tropics to enjoy the long winters here. |
