SUMMARY: Recruits, orients, places and evaluates capable volunteers in positions which will provide a meaningful experience for the individual and a real benefit to HACC program areas.


Volunteer Management Functions:
Recruit, interview and assign unpaid volunteers to appropriate jobs.

Plan and arrange periodic evaluations and recognition of volunteers and volunteer tasks and facilitates regular supervision and evaluations with their staff supervisors.

Represent HACC in the recruitment and placement of long-term stipend volunteers (Lutheran Volunteers, etc.). Handle all administrative work including annual volunteer request proposals, update of job descriptions and other liaison activities.

Compile agency-wide volunteer statistics on a monthly basis and work with Finance Office to ensure accurate reporting to funders.

Manage volunteer database and volunteer email account

Respond to volunteer inquiries in a timely manner

Work with department volunteer coordinators and department heads in assigning volunteers to meaningful projects

Ensure that volunteer hours are tracked and documented in the volunteer database

Volunteer Development Functions:
Develop pool of meaningful volunteer jobs throughout program areas which will provide appropriate support to paid staff and maximize volunteer resources.

Maintain list of projects for large volunteer groups which will make good use of group time and provide meaningful benefit to HACC’s facilities and/or programs.

Solicit and review feedback from management staff in all program areas to tune volunteer positions to changing program needs.

Work with Development staff to determine volunteers who are potential donors or have connections to other charitable corporations, foundations, or religious organizations.

In-Kind Christmas Giving Program Functions:
Publicize program through Christmas appeal letter.

Maintain and update donor records and introduce new donors to giving options.

Keep records of past clients and gather new eligible client data from referring staff.

Coordinate drop-off and pick-up of gifts utilizing volunteers.


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Duties require excellent verbal and written communication skills, and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. High School graduate, college experience recommended and/or at least 2 years in clerical/office administrative work.
