The learning is well supported by a variety of energy professional in the department with deep experience in wide variety of energy issues.

The Assistant Commodity Manager assists their respective Global/Regional/Category Manager(s) in managing assigned commodities within their particular global commodity team. The Assistant Commodity Manager supports the successful implementation, execution, and compliance to global procurement and commodity/spend category strategies, contracts, processes, and policies. The Assistant Commodity Manager works with customers and suppliers, on a global and regional basis, to drive contract utilization and continuous improvement, and improved cost benefit results.

Business Alignment:
Develop and implement feedback mechanisms to determine customer satisfaction levels; respond to issues and concerns; lead supplier business review meetings and collaborate with teams in managing alliance supplier efforts.

Present oral/written reports of findings and recommendations for improvements.

Identify and qualify the right suppliers on a global scale. Execute new program launch from scoping and evaluation to implementation in a timely fashion.

Strategy Development:
Maintain and enhance business relationships between Alcoa and Strategic Alliance suppliers; counsel and educate suppliers and customers to achieve service, quality, customer satisfaction and financial performance objectives.

Support and interface with procurement organization on system-wide sourcing initiatives.

Develop and implement effective sourcing strategies in support of the overall Global strategy.

Execution:
Manage current contract portfolio and assist with implementation and on-going management of new sourcing initiatives.

Conduct complex market and internal data analysis to ensure alliance supplier performance; identify maverick spend and additional contract utilization opportunities.

Negotiate all elements of assigned supplier relationships to ensure lowest total cost of procurement, including product cost, various commercial terms and performance metrics.

Responsibilities:
Develop and manage functional supplier relationships with assigned key/strategic suppliers to optimize financial and operational performance.

Identify and execute opportunities for procurement cost reduction and supplier performance improvement, including alternating suppliers and products, renegotiating contracts to account for market changes, and working in conjunction with appropriate functional areas as needed.

Execute supplier and cost management system/metrics for assigned suppliers and demonstrate continuous improvement.

Maintain supplier database for assigned suppliers.

Negotiate commodity contracts to meet business units’ technology, quality and cost goals.

Assure acceptable quality and levels and continuity of supply for all assigned commodities.

Work closely with GBUs/BUs to achieve operational objectives – cost, quality, delivery and asset management.

Collaborate in cross-functional efforts to reduce costs, standardize materials/components/commodities, and adapt new supplier technologies.

Resolve communication issues and reinforce communication process established between Procurement, BUs and suppliers in addressing performance issues.

Resolve commercial issues associated with supplier performance issues, and cost recovery for quality problems and rework.

Within their assigned commodity area, assist in strategy, sourcing, negotiation, contract preparation, implementation and contract administration.

Assist, either as a contributor or within a multifunctional team, in enabling significant contributions from the Supplier community.

Direct local/regional purchasing efforts within assigned commodity area.

Travel to major Alcoa facilities to understand client requirements. Travel to major Suppliers to understand ability to meet Alcoa's requirements.

Deliver savings to Alcoa's bottom line.

The role will be in the range of JG 16 -17, depending on the candidate
