SOS International Ltd. (SOSi) is seeking a Somali Language Analyst to support our U.S. Government customer in Washington D.C.
Responsibilities:
• Monitors online discussion forums, blogs/video-logs, bulletin boards, and other online forums
• Drafts documents in Somali with matching text in English
• Monitors political, economic, social, military and other developments in assigned geographical region
• Serves as expert of the assigned geographical area including its language, history and culture
• Researches online resources and gains familiarity with United States Government policy
• Assists in the production and electronic dissemination of multimedia materials in Somali
• Attends meetings, briefings and complete other duties
•Identifies potential problems or areas for improvement and provides solutions
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in a discipline equivalent to the required duties and responsibilities
• 2-3 years of industry experience equivalent to the required duties
• Familiarity with operational online media and social networking platforms and experience with multimedia production (video, audiovisual, and graphics)
• Native or near-native speaker of the designated language, particularly in writing
•(US) high school-level equivalent written and spoken English
• 5+ years of residence, after the age of 18, in the country of the designated language
• Knowledge of the Bureau’s and the Department’s structure, structure, missions, functions, and operations to coordinate extensive studies related to assessing and improving the Bureau’s organizational structure, workflow, staff size, and occupational mix
• Ability to communicate in writing to explain policies
• Ability to travel over the course of a normal workday to attend meetings and conferences
• Must pass language testing
• Public Trust certification is required

Work Environment:
• Working conditions are normal for an office environment
• May require 3 weeks domestic and/or international travel a year
