Lube Tech I performs a variety of functions in support of transportation operations, including but not limited to, the general inspection and routine maintenance of vehicles. Performs routine maintenance and repairs to power-operated equipment (POE), and shop equipment. Job is progressive to Lube Tech II.
' Oil changes and lube service to vehicles & POE equipment
' Conducts WGL general vehicle inspections
' General maintenance to vehicles & equipment
' Repairs, mounts & balances tires
' Vehicle & equipment road service & towing
' Maintenance of shop & gas station equipment
' Maintains battery room & chargers
' Removes old vehicles from service
' Performs general housekeeping duties
' Performs Parts Room duties
Must be able to inspect, maintain and adjust the following:
Power plant, hydraulic systems (oil, water, brake) cooling systems, auxiliary power takeoff systems, fuel exhaust systems, lighting systems, snow removal equipment, power-train components.
Change oil and filter, lube chassis, and perform general maintenance inspections. Tow vehicles. Maintain batteries and chargers. Repair shop equipment including car wash, impact tools, and steam cleaner. Repair and install hoses & reels for fluids and compressed air. Remove, replace, repair, & balance tires / wheels. Repair, install and remove tire chains.
Operates tools and equipment as needed, including a wide variety of automotive hand and power tools, computerized testing equipment, body tools, paint spray gun, jacks and presses, snow removal equipment, etc.
Uses computerized systems to perform various clerical and record keeping duties related to vehicle and equipment work orders and the WGL gas stations.
Job Description - Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent G.E.D. Basic computer skills. Two years recent experience in automotive/equipment maintenance field required. Vocational training/certification or equivalent may be substituted for experience. Job is progressive to Lube Tech II.
*Licenses/Certifications: Valid driver's license, DOT medical card (FMC), Forklift qualification may be obtained within 6 months of employment.
Shift Work: As Required.
Use of Personal Vehicle: As Required.
On-Call Responsibilities: As Required.
