Work Schedule: 2 nd Shift Work Schedule: Monday – Friday: 12:00 p.m. (Noon) – 8:30 p.m. (Note: Must be flexible with work schedule to work weekends, holidays, and additional hours dictated by business, peak/non-peak season and productivity needs). Job training will be provided during 1 st shift work-schedule.

Position Summary: The Maintenance Department is currently seeking two experienced, dependable, motivated, and self-driven Maintenance Technicians to join their team at The Men’s Wearhouse Distribution Center in Houston, TX to perform a wide variety of maintenance activities related to automated assembly equipment, machinery and systems that directly support production operations while ensuring all equipment and machinery are working properly to prevent production downtime at the facility. This position will work in a fast-paced, high-volume team environment assembling, installing, diagnosing, repairing, trouble-shooting, and maintaining electro-mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic systems, conveyor systems, PLC’s, production machines and material handling equipment while following all safety related standards and practices. This position will also be responsible for performing preventative (PM), predictive and corrective maintenance activities as needed.

Responsibilities: The responsibilities of the Maintenance Technician will consist of but are not limited to the following:
  • Trouble-shoot, diagnose, assemble, repair and maintain equipment, machinery and systems related to both automated and manual production equipment typically found in a Retail Distribution Center
  • Perform hands-on major and minor repairs and maintenance of material handling equipment including fork lifts, pallet jacks, rolling racks, automated and mechanical conveyors, slick rail, loading dock systems, compressors, electrical and lighting panels, and other related plant equipment.
  • Work with all departments in the distribution center by providing proper maintenance and repair of equipment and machinery to prevent production downtime
  • Coordinate and participate in preventative (PM), predictive and corrective maintenance activities on machinery and equipment in the distribution center
  • Operate and use manual tools and powered-shop machinery and tools to maintain a wide variety of automated and manual equipment and machinery for proper functionality
  • Repair and maintenance of material handling equipment and knowledge of mechanical operations for motor driven equipment
  • Troubleshoot mechanical operations for motor driven and gravity equipment
  • Identify and locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using necessary tools and standard practices to correct and solve maintenance problems
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience working with electrical circuits including 24 volt controls, 120-240 volts, & 208-460 volts, single and three-phase systems
  • Experience with programmable logic control (PLC) and automated control systems including pneumatic controls is a definite plus.
  • Provide mechanical maintenance and other general information as necessary to prevent equipment damage and answer questions to related maintenance issues
  • Maintain documentation of repairs and equipment modifications including preventative maintenance and emergency repairs
  • Assist in implementation of productivity improvements and identify and report potential equipment, machinery and building problems
  • Maintain equipment, parts, tools, and supplies inventories in maintenance shop
  • Understand and follow all safety standards and practices ( participate in job safety training and follow all policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment )
  • Continually maintain a safe working operation
  • Interact with and perform effectively in a high-volume team environment while maintaining a positive relationship with management and department staff
  • Support and assist as needed in maintaining and improving the maintenance department
  • Perform other related activities as assigned and needed
Qualifications:
  • Must have extensive “hands-on” maintenance experience working in a large scale distribution center or industrial/manufacturing environment
  • Strong mechanical background and equipment troubleshooting experience
  • Experience in repair and maintenance of material handling equipment
  • Technical, vocational or trade school education is a plus
  • Strong knowledge and experience with PLC operation and troubleshooting. Definite plus
  • Troubleshooting automated control systems including pneumatic operators ,definite plus
  • Troubleshooting experience in electrical, mechanical, pneumatics, hydraulics, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs)
  • Intermediate knowledge working with electrical circuits including 24 volt controls, 120-240 volts, & 208-460 volts, single and three-phase systems
  • Demonstrated mechanical skills and technical aptitude
  • Understand technical specifications and instructions to solve maintenance issues
  • Prior diagnostic, troubleshooting and preventative maintenance (PM) experience preferred
  • Electrical conveying systems background and GOH rail experience a plus
  • Dry-cleaning maintenance machinery experience is a definite plus
  • Boiler experience is a must (certification in Second Grade Boiler License is a plus)
  • Familiarity with various hand and electric tools
  • Ability to read electrical schematics
  • Possess the ability to be trained
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work related tasks and special projects
  • Good communication skills and good command of the English language (speak, read, and understand English for purposes of performing necessary job duties)
  • Detail-oriented and ability to meet deadlines
  • Problem solving and analytical skills required
  • Ability to work safely by following all maintenance department’s standard operating procedures
  • Ability to maintain the safe operation and ensure the continuous running of mechanical machinery, equipment, and systems in a production assembly environment
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements and have a safe working record
  • Ability to provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment
  • Flexibility and dependability is required and must be willing to work overtime, off-shift, weekends, and holidays to support production needs
  • Ability to work alone and in a team environmen t
  • Ability to work in a production warehouse environment with exposure to various climate conditions (warm, cold, heat) and under stressful conditions such as small and high spaces with the following repetitive physical demands: continuous standing, walking, sitting, use of hands and fingers, grasping, reaching, climbing or balancing, stooping, bending, kneeling, squatting, stretching, crouching, crawling, pulling, pushing, working and reaching overhead, using ladders or lifts, and frequently lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds or more
