Duties & Responsibilities:

New Hires: Entry level rate $9.96/hr.; Current employees in the bargaining unit: Please refer to the salary schedule established by the applicable bargaining group.



Supervise all students in classroom, at lunch/breakfast. recess, and in the building



Accompany students to and from the bus



Ability to support the students with the curriculum and assist them as needed



Ability to manage the environment and protect students during the day



Exhibit positive interpersonal skills when dealing with students, parents and teachers



Work with individuals and/or small groups of students to reinforce curriculum



Reinforce instruction specified by the classroom teacher



Participate in professional development



Model flexibility in duties as needs of students change



Use positive reinforcement strategies and appropriate guidance techniques



Support RTI behavior plans



Provide support to students to reteach and reinforce social skills



Ability to manage the environment and protect students during the day



Assist with lunchroom and playground supervision



Exhibit positive interpersonal skills when dealing with students, parents and teachers



Work with individuals and/or small groups of students to reinforce curriculum/positive behaviors



Use positive reinforcement strategies and appropriate guidance techniques



Must Meet Title 1 Requirements:
Must have a High School Diploma/GED AND two years in a post-secondary institution OR obtained an Associate's Degree or higher OR successfully complete the following scores on the Compass Test: Reading - 80, Writing - 70, and Math -43 OR successfully complete the Iowa Paraprofessional classes and obtain the Iowa Paraprofessional Certificate.



Successful candidate must possess strong inter-personal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reaches his/her full potential.



Good attendance and punctuality are a must to ensure that the duties and responsibilities of the job are performed successfully.
