The Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) is a progressive public safety state operated retail sales business. Our Retail Operations Division is our largest division consisting of 339 retail ABC stores throughout Virginia.

ABC is currently seeking an individual with comprehensive retail skills and management experience to join our Retail Operations Division as Store Manager A. This individual will provide management oversight to one of our retail stores located in Richmond.

Incumbent serves as Manager of an ABC retail/licensee outlet and is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing store operations while ensuring compliance with agency policies and operational procedures. Duties include ensuring contacts with internal and external customers reflect excellence in customer service, monitoring inventory accountability, applying merchandising techniques, accounting for all store funds, monitoring operating expenses, completing required documentation and maintaining related records. Additional duties involve supervising staff and promoting employee development.

Minimum Qualifications
Qualified applicants should have extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of retail operations along with experience leading staff, handling performance issues, providing direct customer service, making decisions and problem solving. Experience performing cash accounting and inventory/category management tasks, utilizing personal computers and point of sales or similar cash register systems is needed along with extensive retail management experience. The ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing is important. Must be able to lift up to 65 lbs. Must be at least 21 years of age.
