The ABE Community Planner will be expected to revitalize and maintain the Twin City Community Partnership established by the ABE Program in 2009. This partnership is a collection of educational providers and other community members who have a stake in adult literacy. They will be responsible for conducting a self-assessment with partnership members using a tool required by the funders. Using the self-assessment and planning tool will allow the partnership to engage in discussion on its direction and to shape goals and outcomes the partnership intends to achieve. In addition to this, the ABE community planner will be mindful of the ACLS Indicators of Effective Community Planning for Community Adult Learning Centers in Massachusetts and will strive to be inclusive of these indicators in the partnership’s work.
Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Education, or closely related field; with two (2) years experience and/or training involving career counseling, academic advising, international student policies, foreign language interpretation, and personal computer operations required; Experience or prior knowledge in adult education setting preferred; Excellent interpersonal communication skills; Excellent oral and written communication skills; Basic computer literacy skills (Microsoft Office Suite, Windows, Internet); Experience in conducting self-assessments and creating continuous improvement plans preferred.
Part Time Non Professional
Conduct and update self-assessment and planning to develop annual continuous improvement plan for partnership, based on the input and guidance from members; Develop and maintain community partnerships among education providers and community members, always inviting new members to the table; Host community meetings to seek feedback on adult basic education services provided; Provide outreach to the community about ABE services; Continue to facilitate Twin Cities Community Partners meetings on a regular basis, providing the necessary leadership to the group on the issues; sharing partnership information with the ABE program as requested; Respond to requests for written reports to DESE as required detailing community planning activities; Attend relevant meetings and trainings offered by DESE and SABES ; Participate in at least 12 hours of professional development activities, or 2.5% of paid hours, whichever is greater; Attend regularly scheduled ABE staff meetings as set by director; Work cooperatively with staff of the adult education program around relevant community planning issues; Other duties as assigned.
