Job Summary An Academic Advisor I must be able to provide students with accurate information regarding the Biology degree as well as providing contact information for other units on the UGA campus and for resources that assist students in their progress toward earning their degree.

Advisors at this level are expected to have a full knowledge of resources that support students in areas other than their academic life and to refer students to appropriate individuals and offices as needed. An Advisor I must also maintain consistent contact with their students, maintain accurate student records and respond in a timely manner to questions from their students via email.

Advisors are expected to participate and help with the functioning of the Division of Biological Sciences including graduation and represent the Biology Advising office at student events. Minimum Qualifications Completion of a Bachelor's degree in field appropriate to area of assignment and one year of administrative and appropriate program experience; OR five years of progressively responsible work in this area; OR any combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
