Collects, prepares and stores human tissue specimens for use in research activities. Enters clinical data into databases. Prepares tissue for distribution from the bank.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under close supervision of the laboratory director, manager or senior laboratory staff this position may include:
Handling human tissue.
Bench chemistry, microbiology, molecular biology or other scientific techniques
Collection of tissue, blood or other biological specimens
Collection of data
Order laboratory supplies and equipment
Performs other duties as assigned.
HS diploma or equivalent GED.
Human specimen technical/lab experience preferred. Previous experience with medical records requirements and patient confidentiality guidelines.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Requires effective written and verbal communication skills.
Requires effective time management skills
Requires experience with computer spreadsheets or databases.
Requires Microsoft Office skills.
Independent judgment is required.
Extended periods of walking and standing may be required.
Lifting, pushing or pulling required (maximum 50 lbs.)

Visual acuity and attention to detail to match small print on sample labels.
Fine motor coordination for accurate and efficient specimen preparation.
Office and research laboratory environment
Some work in refrigerated areas. Limited exposure to sub-zero conditions (freezers)
