Responsibilities for this Position:

General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems (GDAIS) has an immediate opening for a Senior Advanced Systems Engineer to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to develop the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nations fundamental defense services. GDAIS employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions. The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to create and manage various GDAIS and client technologies. Key Responsibilities
Candidate will be responsible for working as a member of the ACE IPT system engineering team to develop innovative solutions in support of ACE projects and experiments. The candidate must also be able to act as a technical interface to MDA working level counterparts on an as-required basis. Ability to work with the customer to understand the needs of the project and find ways to satisfy those needs within the resource constraints. The Engineer wills support a wide variety of tasks to include requirements, design, implmentation, verification, and testing. The candidate should be comfortable going from system analysis and design to actual hands-on implementation.

Basic Qualifications:

The successful candidate must possess the following:

  • Understanding of systems engineering processes and logistics principles, including artifact generation like specifications, Interface Control Documents, System Architecture Descriptions, Use Cases and Trade Studies
  • Understanding of and possess demonstrable skills including identification and definition of desired system capabilities, fielding of new capabilities, system-of-systems definition, integration practices and methods, communicating the desired capabilities to a diverse group of developers, engineers, subject matter experts, and users.
  • Experience with network applications and networking concepts;
  • Experience with military systems used in missile defense such as AN/TPY2, Aegis, THAAD, Patriot, and SBX, including their operational characteristics, communication methods and message sets, and architectures.
  • Experience with track correlation and discrimination algorithms and systems.
  • Experience with STSS, OPIR, and other overhead IR sensor systems and designs (IR/RF fusion algorithm experience).
  • Experience with algorithm development using Matlab or related tools.

  • Decomposition of system attributes into a test program and ability to conduct the testing.
  • Ability to analyze system test data and assess system performance.
  • Experience working in an integrated team environment with other systems, software, and specialty engineers to develop solutions using NTB processes and methods.
  • Engineer must have a bachelor’s degree in a specialized area, field or the equivalent, and eight to ten years of related experience. Applicants with a master’s degree and six to eight years of related experience also qualify.

    Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
