This position is located in Kearny Mesa.
8-hour shift: Including weekends.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Current American Heart Association ACLS and BLS Instructor card required
- 1 year experience as an American Heart Association ACLS Instructor in good standing preferred
- Must be licensed in a medical position that requires the use of ACLS skills
- Medical background is preferred
- Willingness to adhere to Sharp departmental and AHA policies
- Requires availability to teach a minimum of 3 times per month, including 1 weekend
- Requires ability to adapt to different teaching situations
- Excellent communication and customer service skills required
- Must be able to work in a team setting
The role of an Advanced Cardiac Life Support Instructor is critical to both the community and health care providers. ACLS instruction allows students to undertake training that is directly transferable to the clinical setting. We ensure that our instructors know how to give effective presentations of ACLS information and materials; Candidates are expected to know how to function as a leader and participant in all components of an ACLS Provider course including (but not limited to): performing in the initial “Megacode” demonstration; group control skills; and knowledge and facility with all ACLS clinical and medical devices and equipment; setting up and using educational presentation tools; creating, presenting, and leading case-based scenarios, case discussion stations, skills instruction and skills evaluation stations, practice stations, remediation stations, and written examinations; the educational philosophy of the ACLS Program; and relevant policies and procedures for conducting AHA courses.
Sharp HealthCare’s Cardiac Training Center offers CPR and Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) courses for employees and the community. We are the largest American Heart Association authorized Training Center in San Diego County. We facilitate an average of 25 lifesaving courses a month at various Sharp facilities. Sharp System Services have campuses located in the communities of Kearny Mesa and Serra Mesa and consist of the Spectrum location, the Ruffin Road location and Sharp Operations Center (SOC). These offices provide the centralized integrated system support services to the operating entities within the system.
