: PART TIME 40 hrs in 2 week pay period
Starting with job offers dated February 1, 2012 and after, Geisinger Health System will no longer hire applicants who use tobacco products, including cigarettes, cigars and chewing or smokeless tobacco. Applicants will be screened for nicotine as part of the pre-employment physical process. Nicotine will be part of the urine drug screen. Applicants who test positive for nicotine will not be offered employment. Applicants who test positive may re-apply for jobs with Geisinger in six months.
Performs varied secretarial and administrative duties under the general supervision of lead personnel and assigned principals.
Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of Geisinger in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction.
Works under the general supervision of Lead Administrative Assistant and Operations Manager.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
*High school diploma or equivalent required.
*Minimum 1 -3 years secretarial experience required
; clinic, medical office experience preferred.
*Proficiency with Epic, Groupwise, Microsoft Excel and Word preferred.
*Working knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
*Demonstrates intermediate secretarial skills: knowledge of office procedures, proper telephone technique, grammar, punctuation, and spelling as well as effective communication skills.
*Demonstrates strong organizational skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and a high regard for confidentiality.
*Demonstrates flexibility, tact, and the ability perform both independently and as a team member.
*Demonstrates ability to be a self-starter, capable of working quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment while handling multiple priorities.
*Demonstrates a solid understanding of general office support functions and of a specialized/specific area, with specialized skills and the ability to coordinate and be accountable for multiple tasks.
