The Graduate School is responsible for the marketing, recruitment and matriculation of graduate students at MSU. This office is also responsible for upholding Board of Regents and Montana University System admission requirements, policies and procedures regarding applications for admission, residency, acceptance of transfer credits and other enrollment-related issues.
Under the direct supervision of the Graduate Admissions Supervisor, the Graduate School Admissions Evaluator III will be responsible for a majority of the graduate school admissions processes; performing a variety of administrative support, record keeping and customer service duties to include:
Reviewing detailed application materials (i.e., transcripts, residence qualification, international applications, financial certificate) for the evaluation and decision making process as well as organizing, maintaining and tracking detailed graduate student records and application materials.
Revising application materials and assisting with the generation and creation of marketing and recruiting materials.
Advising potential and incoming graduate students of Montana State University, following both The Graduate School and the Montana Board of Regents policies and Procedures.
Conducting presentations in a professional manner both during campus events and at nationwide recruiting events.
Responding to inquiries from students (i.e., phone, email and face to face) as well as attend recruiting events (solo and with the Graduate Admissions Supervisor), including travel to out of state venues.
Capability to implement sound judgment when evaluating potentially problematic situations; with the ability to work with others in a team effort, when necessary.
Having the capacity to think independently and creatively for the future growth of The Graduate School.
Performing other duties as related to the position.
Bachelors Degree (or within 6 months of completion) and two years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) work in a related field which includes: highly detailed work assignments and extensive contact with the public; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Please include examples of demonstrated working knowledge of office and administrative practices and procedures, including explaining and enforcing polices.
Demonstrated ability to be self motivated; prioritize multiple work assignments; to be able to work effectively both independently and in a team oriented manner, under minimal supervision; to meet deadlines and exercise adaptability to changing priorities, while maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
Demonstrated competence using personal computers and software such as: word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation, email and internet. Microsoft Office software preferred (please list equipment and software used). Please use examples; demonstrating ability to use large databases from data entry to processing.
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to converse in an effective, positive and friendly manner while providing appropriate responses to questions or inquiries from a variety of individuals.
Experience using the SCT Banner system.
Knowledge of MSU procedures and policies or previous experience working in a higher education setting; previous work in a graduate school admissions or undergraduate admissions desirable.
