Stonington Institute began serving recovering alcoholics in 1957 as
Starlight Farms, a working farm where adults in recovery were
introduced to the principles of Alcoholics Anonymous. Today, we are
the longest continually operating, free-standing, voluntary treatment
facility in New England. Our main campus is located in North
Stonington, CT, in its original private and peaceful rural setting.
We have additional clinical sites in Groton, CT. Transportation and
off-campus housing assistance make our programs and services
accessible to a statewide clientele. Those programs include: medical
detoxification, rehabilitation/residential treatment, partial
hospitalization, intensive outpatient treatment (both day and
evening), ambulatory detoxification and residential substance abuse
treatment for military servicemembers and their dependents. The
Institute accepts private insurance, state-funded plans and self pay
arrangements.

Hours 8:30 am-9:00 pm.
Full-time position (36 hrs/wk). The Admissions Specialist
provides face-to-face assessment and crisis intervention, schedules
appointments for potential admissions, directs the intake and
admission process at the treatment sites, confirms appropriate level
of care, facilitates the admission process and coordinates
communication with referral sources, families, clients and designated
treatment staff at the program. Job responsibilities include taking
client vital signs, completion of admission paperwork and data entry
of all inquiry calls.

Requirements

Bachelors Degree preferred. Experience in behavioral health and
chemical dependency treatment preferred. Prior intake, assessment,
admission and crisis intervention experience with a psychiatric
mental health and/or chemical dependency population ideal, preferably
in a day treatment, residential, or inpatient setting. Knowledge of
crisis intervention and risk assessment, psychiatric diagnoses
symptomology, chemical dependency diagnoses and symptomology, age
specific growth and development and crisis and behavior management is
preferred. Ability to function in a fast paced and often
demanding environment by prioritizing and multi-tasking is essential.
Knowledge of insurance plans and experience with computer data entry
preferred. Excellence in customer service is a must.
