Job Summary

Work involves responsibility for planning, coordinating, and implementing Energy Beet research protocols designed by scientists. Provides research support for a group of scientists with a focus on Energy Beet production and interaction with various pests, including weeds, plant pathogens, and nematodes. Requires knowledge of specialized equipment and the ability to direct all aspects of the operations of a coordinated research project, including: supervision of skilled and unskilled farm workers; planning and supervising the planting, cultivating, harvesting and storing of Energy Beets; ability to repair, maintain, and fabricate equipment; supervise and assist in the installation and operation of irrigation systems such as laterals, pivots, solid sets and hard hoses; and all other duties involved in running day-to-day operations. There is currently 11 months of funding for this position, which may be renewable, depending upon external support resources.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in animal science or a related field and 2 years of experience in farm management OR any equivalent combination of training and experience.
