MISSISSIPPI NATIONAL GUARD

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED : This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

MILITARY TECHNICIAN COMPATIBILITY REQUIREMENTS : Prior to placement in this position, the selected applicant must be assigned to a compatible position as required by TPR 303. Although conditions of employment, such as grade/rank restrictions, medical, technician compatibility, etc., are not used to determine an applicantÂ’s eligibility to apply for a position, the applicant must meet the conditions prior to appointment in the position. The compatibility requirements for this position are:

Military Appointment & DAOC/DMOS/DAFSC: 2A3X3 or 2A5XX

Minimum & Maximum Military Grade: E5 - E7 (Note: You must provide proof with application of eligibility to hold appropriate military grade.)

AREA OF CONSIDERATION : This position is in the Excepted Federal Civil Service "under the authority of 32 U.S.C. 709", and is restricted to current on-board technicians of the 172d AW, Maintenance Group.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

You must maintain membership in National Guard for continuous employment. DUTIES:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This position is located in the SortieGeneration Section of the Aircraft Generation Division, within the LogisticsDirectorate of an Air National Guard Flying Wing. Its purpose is to act on the crew chief withresponsibility for directing the total maintenance effort on individuallyassigned aircraft. The work involves thetotal maintenance of complex, high performance military aircraft, ranging frommulti-purpose heavy, multi-engine transports to the most modern sophisticatedfighters and bombers. Fully responsiblefor providing detailed technical insight on individual aircraft's level ofMission Capability (MC), then develops and recommends a comprehensive course ofaction to maintain the aircraft at Full Mission Capability (FMC). All aircraft are fully integrated in and arepart of the Total Force Mission of the United States Air Force. This position is responsible to fully prepareassigned aircraft for Aerospace Expeditionary Force/Wing (AEF/AEW) Operationsaround the world. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training which hasprovided the candidate with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts,accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according toestablished specifications. Must beskilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must possess 18 months of specialized experiencewhich provided the applicant with (1) experience in repairing, rebuilding, oroverhauling aircraft system and major components using the tools of the trade,(2) experience which demonstrates the skill to align, adjust, and rig systemsand controls after the replacement of parts, components, and major repairs, (3)experience in operating a variety of measurement, test, and diagnosticequipment utilized in troubleshooting and repair of aircraft, (4) experience ininspecting the full range of mechanical systems with the ability to analyzeexisting or foreseeing problems and recommend corrective action, and (5)experience using a wide variety of technical publications to include complexschematics and specifications.

NOTE: Your application must contain a description of both civilian and military experience as it relates to the general and specialized experience requirements.

SECURITY REQUIREMENTS : Selected individual must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance for this position and/or the compatible military position.

MEDICAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : A pre-placement physical examination may be required for this position. Selected individual must maintain any medical/physical standards for this position and/or the compatible military position.
