Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an immediate opening for an Analytical Chemist in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
We are seeking an Analytical Chemist with at least 10 years industrial experience working with gas and liquid chromatography for the analysis of formulated products. Candidates also having hands on experience with Ion Chromatography and a broad understanding of various analytical techniques relevant to the analysis of formulated products will be preferred. Candidates should also have 2 -3 years of supervisory experience.
The role involves working closely with an integrated team of researchers in a laboratory environment to develop and validate analytical methods to assay components of formulated products used in the semiconductor industry. The role requires close collaboration with technical and commercial personnel as well as the plant operations personnel. Experiences in successful team environments are a significant asset.
The position requires that the majority of time be devoted to hands-on laboratory work. This position is responsible for obtaining high reliability data, equipment and resource planning for analysis needs for the technology team, project planning & management. This position will supervise and mentor a team of 2 to 3 analytical chemists. The person will need to demonstrate leadership through strong technical skills and teamwork skills, be self-motivated and ambitious in the support of high value new products of commercial relevance, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and demonstrated creativity and strong problem solving skills.
- Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry with 10 years industrial experience, preferably in the analysis of formulated products utilizing LC, GC & IC techniques
- Strong technical understanding of fundamental analytical chemistry
- Theoretical and operational understanding of chromatography
- A broad breadth of analytical tools and their relevant applicability
- Strong fundamentals and practical experience in the use of statistics to develop data reliability information,
- Experienced in new product analytical methods development
- Excellent interpersonal skills that support a diverse team environment
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
