Anesthesia Technician II - Operating Room
The Anesthesia Technician II is an integral member of the anesthesia patient care team. The Anesthesia Technician II performs assistance to the licensed anesthesia providers in various settings. The Anesthesia Technician II performs advanced duties under the supervision of a licensed anesthesia provider. The Anesthesia Technician II provides support for open heart and routine surgical cases by assisting in the preparation, maintenance and trouble-shooting of patient equipment and anesthesia delivery systems before and during anesthesia. The Anesthesia Technician II has advanced knowledge in trouble-shooting and performs first level maintenance on anesthesia equipment. The Anesthesia Technician II will assemble, set up and insert peripheral intravenous lines and prepare anesthesia drips as ordered by Anesthesia providers. The Anesthesia Technician II will perform Autotransfusion/Cell Saver duties during routine surgical cases and assist the perfusionist before and during Open Heart surgeries. The Anesthesia Technician II cleans, sterilizes, disinfects, stocks, orders and maintains the routine anesthesia equipment. Pharmacists will have oversite responsibility when non-licensed staff handle non-controlled medications.
- High School Diploma or GED Required
- Autotransfusion Specialist Preferred
- Previous OR Experience Required
- ACLS within three months of hire Required
- Anesthesia Technician certification Preferred
- National course in troubleshooting anesthesia delivery system Preferred
