AP Project & Systems Analyst

This position is responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, testing, documentation and improvement of the systems used by the Accounts Payable staff and Managers. This is a technical position, which interacts with IT on a regular basis with respect to systems-related matters. This position must understand the data sets that reside in the Accounts Payable systems as well as the systems that interface to Accounts Payable. An understanding of techniques available to query from these data sets is also required. Advanced training and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook is a must. Another function of this position is to develop useful reporting and tools to be utilized by both AP and other departments that rely on AP for information support.

In addition, this position is responsible for future planning and developmental needs to bridge the gaps between IT resources and the needs of the department for streamlining processes and identifying efficiency potential. Minimal direct supervision is provided to this role and they must be able to regularly use discretion and independent judgment in decision making and problem solving. The AP Project and Systems Analyst is responsible for presenting any system issues to the IT department and working with IT to resolve them. They must also plan, develop, test and implement any system upgrades, patches and new systems. Once tested and implemented, this position is responsible for training both management and staff on any system changes. This training sometimes extends beyond the AP department.


Four year technical degree with 3 to 5 years equivalent work experience. Advanced proficiency in MS Office programs such as Word, Excel, and Access. Basic Accounting knowledge from College Level coursework or previous work experience. Knowledge of Visual Basic programming. High level of communication skills. Advanced level of problem solving skills relating to software. Ability to prioritize and meet short deadlines.
