The Asset Protection Specialist will work to positively impact Asset Protection Awareness, Internal/External Theft Investigations, Merchandise Protection, Known Loss/Shrink Trends and General Safety in the Retail Store. These functions must be performed in such a manner they will limit liability and protect the company’s assets.
Conduct timely, legal and effective Internal/External Theft Investigations by leveraging Known Loss and Shrink Data. These investigations must be conducted in such a manner they will limit liability and follow all Cabela’s Policies and Procedures as well as jurisdictional requirements. Timely and accurate entry of data/reports into the case management system.
Promotion of Asset Protection Awareness Programs on current known loss/shrink trends to reduce loss and create an environment where outfitters and managers feel comfortable bringing forward confidential information that involves dishonest/unethical activity.
Daily entry of known loss into database as well as effective weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual trending of known loss data to positively impact Internal/External Theft Investigations as well as Asset Protection Awareness.
Completion of Monthly EAS Audit, entry into case management system and follow up with the appropriate department personnel to ensure EAS Compliance remains at or above 90%. This includes the education of outfitters on the proper EAS tagging of product.
Develop and maintain partnerships with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies that may aid in investigations initiated by Cabela’s.
High School Diploma or Equivalent, 0 to 2+ Years Specialized training or previous experience in loss prevention techniques preferred, ability to use good judgment and logic required, Loss Prevention Certified or Loss Prevention Qualified preferred, must be able to read documents, printouts, reports, computer screens and other written communication. Must be able to sit for long periods of time observance CCTV to look for various activity.
Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with customers and co-workers. Must be able to respond to emergency calls broadcast over two way radios, phones and/or overhead paging devices.
Must be able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time observing and assisting customers and employees.
Must be able to install equipment at various heights, use step-stool or ladder, etc.
Must be able to do a minimum amount of lifting/pulling/pushing.
Must be able to write, type and use phone system.
Light Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. This job involves a good mix of sitting, standing a walking during any given shift.
