The Application Administrator will be focused on the complete support, provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of hardware and software related to the core systems in OIT . The individual will be part of a team supporting the core applications deployed by OIT , and will participate in technical research, support and development of these systems to enable continuing innovation within OIT’s infrastructure. This individual will be a primary resource for technical support and maintenance concerns, and will ensure that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational goals, values, and standards.
~Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in Computer Science or a related discipline.
~Two years experience in Systems or Application Administration.
~Knowledge related to installation, configuration, modification and support of networked systems, databases, and servers.
~Demonstrated knowledge of application scripting experience.
~Prior experience in system administration and enterprise system support, application programming, and experience working with databases.
~Demonstrated experience in and understanding of Windows server administration.
~Experience with configuration and maintenance of databases on local SAN storage.
~Familiarity with highly available database configurations.
~Working knowledge of server hardware ( RAID , clustering, virtualization, etc.). Basic knowledge of TCP /IP protocol, DHCP , DNS , ActiveDirectory a plus.
~Demonstrated experience with administration of more than one of the following systems: SharePoint, Exchange, SQL Server, ImageNow, Blackboard, Tomcat, ProSam, or TimeLink.

Duties & Responsibilities
~Demonstrate strong ownership and commitment to supporting systems and resolving system issues for end users. This includes developing a deep understanding of system and application functionality, system and application configuration, inter-system dependencies, and impact from system changes and upgrades.
~Assist in establishing system specifications and infrastructure.
~Participate in determining system testing approaches and test planning, and will assist in creating test procedures to assess impact of application and system upgrades in system performance and reliability.
~Will work closely with OIT staff and vendors to provide seamless support of systems on behalf of end users.
~Develop, execute and contribute to procedures for production control and release management for systems and maintain clear documentation of system releases and ensure production deployments are successful.
~Will secure systems by developing system access, monitoring and control, and will assist in establishing and testing disaster recovery policies and procedures for systems.
~Ensure complete backups of systems are run and assist in maintaining technical documentation for systems.
~Will establish load/stress testing for systems and participate in capacity planning for systems.
~Will routinely monitor system logs and investigate events reported on logs.
~Ensure that systems are available and fully functional during established normal business hours.
~Will provide ongoing application functionality instruction to end-users as needed.
~Will serve as critical backup to peer staff for identified systems and applications support.
