Reports to the Associate Director of IT in the Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development (VPR). Creates/maintains websites, develops/maintains web applications for the VPR office and for all the departments that reports to the VPR Office including the Office of Research & Sponsored Programs (ORSP), Office of Technology Commercialization (OTC), Lab Animal Services (LAS), Office of Research Alliances (ORA), Office of Proposal Development (OPD), Department of Defense Grants Funding, Assoc. VP of Research and Associate VP of New Ventures, Associate VP of Economic Development, and Director of Communications. Each of these departments work closely with each other. Captures requirements, performs analysis, develops strategies, and designs and implements systems from a combination of Open Source, commercial, and locally written products to maintain, extend, and evolve synergistic relationship of these departments. Modifies and adapts existing programs and writes new programs using standard procedures and techniques. Acquires application knowledge for open source and commercial software products used by the departments such as COEUS, Cayuse, Salesforce, eIRB etc. and becomes an expert on these systems and help other staff members to use these systems to their fullest capacity as well as resolve end user issues. Provides server support and desktop support. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
Requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or related technology field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Programming experience with either .Net technologies or Java technologies is required. If .Net environment then require programming experience with C#, MVC2, MVC3, EF 4, LINQ. If Java technologies then require programming experience with Java, J2EE, ORM (Hibernate), Spring Framework and SQL. Requires good front end design skills using CSS and working knowledge of JavaScript. Knowledge of Drupal or any Content Management System including workflow best practices, and working in both PC and MAC environments. Experience with SQL and some database systems (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL etc.). Experience with any Object Oriented Programming language such as Java or C#. Experience with Web application framework such as MVC 3 or Spring Framework. Experience with the front end design using CSS, Html and Photoshop. Requires desktop support experience running windows, Linux, and Webservers and a working knowledge of networks. Must be able to work comfortably in Windows, Linux and/or UNIX environments.
