Doctorate in Educational Curriculum and Instruction or closely related field, with three years of job-related experience in academia; five years of experience with a Master’s degree, or eight years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree.
Experience in Health Sciences/Education Environment; demonstrated management experience
Ability to work collegially with a variety of constituents associated with a college of medicine including administrators, support staff, basic science faculty, clinical faculty, students, regulatory agencies, and members of the wider academic community in a variety of locales. Communications ability in speech and writing including conversing with medical practitioners and experts; writing reports, instructional materials, memoranda, research reports and manuscripts; and general communications. Personal initiative and leadership abilities to deal with a rapidly changing environment are necessary. Some job related travel required.
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others. Ability to perform all tasks and job responsibilities safely without injury to self and others in compliance with A&M System and HSC guidelines.

Preferred Education and Experience:
Certification in some field of medicine/health care. Experience in education and/or a medicine/health care field. Evidence of personal initiative and leadership in medical education, Education, and/or a medicine/health care field.
Experience working with medical students helpful. Record of publication and presentation in educational research. Ability to assist students (e.g., review CVs, personal statements, interviewing skills, and presentations; Ability to participate in curriculum delivery as appropriate either as a facilitator and/or presenter. Experience with project management.

Job Detail:
Serves on management team for the Office of Faculty Development.
Serves on and/or provides consultation to educational committees and administrative offices in the College of Medicine; teaches and/or directs courses as needed for the College of Medicine.
Supervises support staff as needed to accomplish duties.
Assesses the degree to which faculty development support may be needed to sustain and build quality teaching and learning; Supervises day-to-day work of OFD employee(s) in Temple, BCS and Round Rock locations.
Assists in the design and delivery of faculty development in a variety of formats including large group presentations, small group presentations, individual consultations, and online modules.
Assists with designing, planning and implementing a centralized faculty teaching system; Planning and preparation for new faculty orientation, annual meeting and welcome; development and maintenance of a Faculty Mentoring program and, in collaboration with others, a Student/Faculty mentoring program; Lifelong Learning Coach implementing programs for career development
Oversees the maintenance of program records and data bases relevant to Office of Faculty Development projects.
Engages in collaborative educational research ; provides faculty research support and mentoring.
Publishes and presents research in appropriate journals and conference papers.
Other duties as assigned.
