The Assistant Director of Academic Advising and Support with advising responsibilities for the Bachelor of Science in University Studies (BSUS) has a leadership role responsible for overseeing the advising of BSUS students. The assistant director supervises the BSUS advisors, seeks professional development and training for the BSUS staff, executes advisee reports, distributes advising loads, identifies and resolves advising issues, updates information on the advising website, works on retention and graduation efforts with campus partners, and assists the director of the BSUS program where necessary.

The person in this position also has advising responsibilities and works with students who are developing an individualized major, assists with the BSUS gateway course, and supports the BSUS faculty oversight committee. This position assists students in major/career exploration and course selection, participates in Orientation and Open House activities, and is involved in university events.

This position requires a person with experience in academic advising and understands major and career counseling at the collegiate level. In addition to working with students, the person in this position must have the ability to interact with university administrators, faculty, and staff. Personal abilities required for this position include strong interpersonal, analytical, organizational, and customer service skills. The candidate will also need strong computer skills and should enjoy working in a fast-paced, team-orientated environment.

Minimum Qualifications
A Masters degree in a closely related discipline such as counseling, education, communication, or psychology from an appropriately accredited institution and a minimum of three years of experience in academic advising in higher education.

Qualifying degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions and conferred by the time of hire.
