The Assistant Manager Food Service I participates in the food ordering, production, service, cash handling, sanitation and housekeeping, and maintenance of the Campus Cafés (Bookends Café, Business Café, Courtyard Café, Design Café, Gentle Doctor Café, and Froots). This position assists with organizing and directing staff in order to meet the departmental goal of serving high quality and safe meals to students, staff and University guests with consistent high quality customer service. The Assistant Manager assists with menu pricing, budgeting, and meeting sales and financial targets; and takes an active role in the departmental decisions regarding policies and procedures.

The successful candidate will have well developed communication and interpersonal skills, time management skills, and strong leadership skills in addition to excellent food preparation, presentation and food marketing skills.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and one year food service experience; OR a combination of education and related experience totaling five years.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management; Food and Nutrition; Business Administration; Dietetics or related field.

Experience working in a college or university setting, retail food service establishment, with specific experience related to being a barista in a coffee shop.

Experience in foodservice management, specifically related to personnel management, POS and cash handling, and customer service.

Experience working with Micros POS software and CBORD Menu Management Systems.

ServSafe certification.


Minimum $33,676; commensurate with qualifications
