The Assistant Research Compliance Officer reports to the Director, Office of Research Compliance and Administration (ORCA), and works collaboratively with the directors of regulatory committees, as well as other university units responsible for research compliance.
The Assistant Research Compliance Officer provides coordination for the administration, support, monitoring and oversight of a range of non-fiscal research compliance functions. These functions include conflicts of interest management, protection of human subjects; animal care and use; export controls; research involving radiation, biohazards, and compliance training.
The Assistant Research Compliance Officer:
Is the alternate campus contact for information about best
practices and government regulations related to research
compliance and the responsible conduct of research
Reviews research protocol requiring HIPAA compliance or
other privacy compliance and provide assistance with
compliance to HIPAA and other privacy regulations.
Assists the Director in managing the University research
compliance system, including coordination of related
Maintains accurate and comprehensive records of research
compliance activities at the University and other reports as
necessary to comply with appropriate regulations
Assists with overseeing the confidential institution-wide
research compliance reporting system and the internal
monitoring of research compliance
Develops and delivers educational programs related to
research, research compliance and the responsible conduct
of research to the University community
Identifies areas of compliance vulnerability, performing risk
assessments as necessary
Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution required. Applicant also needs:

- A demonstrated understanding of applicable federal and state regulations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex issues to diverse audiences from students to administrators.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
