The Traffic Management Division is recruiting for an Assistant TPW Superintendent in its Transportation and Public Works (TPW) Department.

This position is to lead and oversee the construction, operation and maintenance of traffic signals, school flashers, and various ITS systems including cameras, communications systems, and new Advanced Traffic Controllers; assist with the deployment of a new Advanced Traffic Management System and Traffic Management Center; attend and participate in department meetings; serve as the liaison for the division with other divisions, departments and outside agencies; negotiate and resolve sensitive and controversial issues; prepare and administer contracts for private contracting; review plans and specifications for new installation of traffic signals; identify and plan for future needs; knowledge and experience with the equipment, such as traffic signals, traffic surveillance cameras and Ethernet communication systems is essential.

Skills / Requirements

An * Associate Degree or higher from an accredited college in engineering or related field PLUS four (4) years of experience in the operational activities of a traffic signal program, with a minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience is required.

Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills and abilities required.

Office Management / Supervisory skills and abilities also required.

Experience in the planning and programming for the installation and maintenance of traffic signals and Intelligent Transportation systems is required.

The ability to develop long range work plans to optimize work efforts is required.

{ * A High School Diploma or GED Certificate PLUS six (6) years of noted experience, with a minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience may substitute in lieu of the noted Associates degree. }

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid Class A commercial drivers license (CDL), or the ability to obtain one, within 60 days of hire required.

Ability to pass DOT physical required.

An acceptable driving record required.

MISC. REQUIREMENTS: City of Fort Worth policy on acceptable driving record required.

SHIFT HOURS:
Position assigned to a five (5) day week; Monday Friday; 7:00 am 3:30 pm; Subject to being on-call and working overtime, including weekends and holidays to respond to emergencies and complete priority projects.
