Associate Director, US Diabetes Customer Insights

Description:
The US Diabetes Customer Insights Associate Director provides leadership to drive strategic and customized market research to generate insights for Marketing, Medical and Access decisions across the US Diabetes portfolio. In particular, this position will be focused on managing the market access/payer insights for the US Diabetes Customer Insights team. The Customer Insights function is responsible for creating insights plans, executing primary research, synthesizing the output of market research and, where appropriate, research and analyses from other CoEs. Moreover, the Customer Insights function is responsible for facilitating discussions about insights that communicate the story in a clear, unbiased way and helps the Diabetes team understand the implications. The Associate Director will be responsible for leading the design and execution of primary market research to deliver strategic customer insights and drive improved decision making for the US Diabetes team. The Associate Director will be a key part of the single Customer Insights partnership team with Astra Zeneca. The partnership team with AZ consists of both BMS and AZ employees who have distinct roles and responsibilities within the team. The Associate Director will report into the deployed Director for the team, which is currently a Customer Insights Director from AZ. The Associate Director will report into a home office manager at BMS designated as the Executive Director of CV/Met Customer Insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for customer insights efforts, developing and deploying innovative market research techniques that reflect best practices to develop key strategic customer insights and drive superior decision making.
  • Accurately assess business and market access issues faced by the diabetes team and develop the appropriate market research plan to address them, providing superior analysis and reasoned solutions.
  • Synthesize data from multiple sources to bring added value to payer related market research studies, then generate and communicate customer insights in a business-oriented, concise and meaningful way to be delivered to the diabetes team.
  • Consistently develop and recommend reasonable, data-driven business-building ideas and encourage the use of customer and market insights to inform business decisions.
  • Demonstrate mastery of primary research designs and analysis, and independently develop customized non-standard research solutions to address complex, multi-faceted tactical and strategic business and market access/payer issues.
  • Work closely with members of the joint venture partnership to generate superior customer insights and drive effective decision making.
  • Support the home office Executive Director of CV/Met Customer Insights to deliver required information and insights to the BMS home office.
  • Independently represent the Customer Insights function on key internal business team meetings, contributing in ways consistent with the vision and strategies of the department.
Qualifications:
5-8+ years of relevant market research experience. Pharmaceutical industry experience preferred, but not required. Experience in the key functional areas of market research, including design and analysis of primary market research, secondary data analysis and modeling, required. Knowledge of and experience with market access market research tools and approaches. General understanding of market access and payer dynamics, including US access models, formularies, payer controls, affordability considerations and access metrics. Demonstrated ability to work with a cross-functional team and a joint venture partner. Proven ability to effectively operate and influence cross-functionally. Strong technical understanding of marketing research models and deep knowledge and experience across multiple complex research tools. Developed or participated in the development of one or more proprietary research models or techniques. Strong analytical skills and strategic thinking ability. Concise and impactful written and oral communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and deliver high quality business results within a tight timeframe. Home office location will be Plainsboro, but joint-venture partnership activities will be at a nearby neutral site. As such, there will be some travel expected. Advanced degree in general business, market research, required.
