The Associate Director, Training & Risk Management coordinates, oversees & assists with formulating and implementing the Training Program for all animal users to ensure compliance with Federal regulations, company policies & accreditation requirements. Monitor research activities to ensure that the Institution is in compliance with federally mandated regulations that involve the use of animals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
The Associate Director, Training & Risk Management will work with LAM Management & EC Head of Compliance to identify areas for training. He/she will identify & utilize internal & external resources to administer need based training to IACUC, Researchers, new employees & LAM staff. The Associate Director will keep abreast of new technology & methodology that can be utilized to improve training. The individual will utilize educational items including computer online modules, workshops, videos/CD_ROMS, and one-on-one training sessions. He/she will review, assign & track assigned Training for completion & documentation. The individual will troubleshoot processes and procedures resulting from training that is not effective.
The Associate Director, Training & Risk Management will maintain knowledge of current animal welfare regulations, IACUC Policies and Guidelines, ensure Research Compliance, and keep abreast of current animal welfare regulations, policies and standards to insure that animal care & use, operations and their documentation meet legal and company requirements. Periodically meet with EC Head of Compliance to discuss trends & implications. The individual will provide support to IACUC & Veterinarians in conducting Post Approval Monitoring evaluations to ensure current research activities are consistent with approved protocols. He/she will participate in & coordinate activities related to USDA Inspections & AAALAC, Intl site visits. The individual will monitor adherence to approved LAM SOPs, monitor required records & documentation for compliance, assist with preparation and submission of reports to governmental and accreditation agencies, and be an Ad Hoc IACUC member. Other LAM activities will be determined by the Senior Director. This position requires less than 10% Travel. This position is located in Spring House, PA.
Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 10 years of experience working with diverse animal procedures in a regulated research environment; organizational skills that include the ability to plan, schedule, and successfully carry out multiple tasks with minimal supervision; demonstrated understanding of USDA regulations & AAALAC, Intl accreditation standards; exceptional organizational and project management skills; demonstrated ability to take initiative and identify, prioritize and plan activities necessary to meet department goals; high level of competency with systems applications and databases; attention to detail; excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with a variety of people at all levels.
